...this excites me very much. :)

See, see, it's on the Amazon page!

18 July 2007 @ 09:47 pm
We all should have received the very exciting emails containing the final edits and Table of Contents!

This is all very exciting, of course, especially when you think of things like the release party. My mother wants me to skip school to go to the on on November 15th in New York City. Of course, I am not adverse to this, but still... Anyone else planning on attending?

Now that we have to look over our essays for the last time and make sure everything is in tip top shape, how is everyone feeling? I am actually a bit nervous, because I feel that so much has changed since I wrote this essay (my writing, my main obsession, my thoughts) that I don't feel like it is my best work. Though, I am still proud of it. Anyone else at a point like this? Or is everyone too excited about the book to care? :D

Well, good luck to all of you in churning out a perfect final edit! Here's to us!

So yes, I am feeling awfully curious as of late. Two questions today!

1) Anyone else getting very itchy for the final edit, coming up next week?

2) Who's curious about what the website is going to look like?! :D

Hey everyone! Jordyn and I are having a fun time recommending and discussing books over at the blogspot page! Come join us :D

Speaking of books! Anyone else SUPERDUPER excited for the final Harry Potter book?
I'm excited out the wazoo, but I also just can't imagine life without waiting in anticipation for the next HP book. A part of me might very well die after Deathly Hallows, simply because there won't be anymore to wait for, boo! (Although I do hope JK writes up Hogwarts: A History. That would be SO FUN.)

And if you love Harry Potter, you need to check out Harry and the Potters, if you haven't already. Wizard Rock is AMAZING, hee.

That's enough from me now!

Hey! There's a book description up on the Amazon page, now!
I'm pretty sure it's new, anyway... XD
Book Description
A strikingly honest, vividly written collection of personal essays by teenage girls, offering a glimpse into the lives of today’s MySpace generation

If you’re a teenage girl today, you live your life in words—tapped out into text and instant messages, onto blogs and MySpace pages (a quarter of the site’s sixty million American users are teen girls). It’s how you conduct your friendships and present yourself to the world. Every day, you’re creating a formidable body of personal written work.

This generation’s unprecedented comfort level with the written word has led to a fearless new American literature. These collected essays, at last, offer the key to understanding the inscrutable teenage girl—one of the most mislabeled and underestimated members of society, argues Amy Goldwasser, longtime editor at magazines including Seventeen, New York, and Vogue. And, while psychologists and other experts have tried to explain the teen girl in recent years, no book since the 1999 bestseller Ophelia Speaks has given her the opportunity to speak for herself—until now.

In this eye-opening collection, fifty teenage girls from across the country speak out, writing about everything from Condoleezza Rice to Mischa Barton; from the loneliness of being a young Arab in America to the self-loathing or pride they feel about their bodies. Revealing the complicated inner lives, hopes, struggles, addictions, and obsessions of this generation, Red ultimately provides today’s teen girl with much-needed community, perspective, and validation—and helps the rest of us to better understand her.

News on the Red front!

We'll soon be getting edited essays back for final review, hopefully by the end of June! As Amy G. put it, "please try to respond to them with any raves, objections, relief, etc. as soon as they hit your in-box."

Oh, how exciting :D This is real, isn't it? It's actually real.

And don't forget to tell everybody to pre-order it on Amazon!

P.S. Is anybody else super-curious about cover art and such? :)

I'm really bored, and decided that I need to post something in this community!
So, I will ask everyone, what are five songs that you're really into right now?

1) Moi... Lolita by Alizée
2) Seven Days In Sunny June by Jamiroquai
3) Nuit Blanche by Vive La Fête
4) Sex and Candy by Marcy Playground
5) Crash Into Me by Dave Matthews Band

I'm kind of obsessed with french music (if you look at my last.fm page, my top artist is Serge Gainsbourg, ahead of all the others by a whole lot, as I've listened to him over 2,000 times, haha).

Today, Saskia was driving the both of us to a picnic, and then to her house, and so we turned on the radio while in her truck. Holy crap, they were playing all sorts of old 90s songs. I LOVED IT. I knew the words! I knew the songs! It made me so happy. Heee.

So. What are you all currently digging?

Not sure if this applies to anyone on here, but it was on Myspace, so just in case?
Oh, it's a message from Amy G., of course XD

Attention RED writers: Do I have your revised essays back?!

Because this is it—if I don't have your essay back in the next couple of days, by Wed May 9, I'm not going to be able to include you in the book! This would break my RED heart.

I've been harrassing you via e-mail, but in case you check MySpace more obsessively:
If you are Sam L, Emily-Nicole, or Kathleen, please send me your revised essay immediately!!!
Thank you. It's all in the interest of keeping you in the book.

And if you're Ashley or April, same thing only more of it re your releases. Send! Now!
